A brutal and realistic war film focuses on the lives of a squad of 14 U.S. Army soldiers of B Company, 3rd Battalion, 187th Infanty Regiment, 101st Airborne Division during the brutal 10 day (May 11-20, 1969) battle for Hill 937 in the A Shau Valley of Vietnam as they try again and again to take the fortified hill held by the North Vietnamese, and the faults and casualties they take every time in which the battle was later dubbed "Hamburger Hill" because enemy fire was so fierce that the fusillade of bullets turned assaulting troops into shreded hamburger meat.

Folks this movie like all outers out of Hollywood is big lie. Did any of you see the war stories by Oliver North on Fox news that was what it was about. Some times if you would like to find truth or find out what really happen in May call to Fort Campbell Ky find out when we have our reunion I am a member of Dong Ap Bia better knows as Hamburger Hill. We are and will all ways be proud of what we did both Black and white. To really know in any war what went on is to be part of it. We did that show for Fox News this past year but mite do more later on to tell the truth. Movie is no war and no war is a movie. If you see this show that was done this past year see real men who was there and real hero's then it will take your breath away to know that America has men with such courage they will go through any thing for one another no matter what race. Viewers expecting to see another classic will be very disappointed. This is a Viet Nam war movie with lots of action and noise, just thrown together in horrible directing. In fact, the movie looks like it was written and directed by grunts with no idea how to make a movie. No one can say if the film is realistic, because it's just a bunch of scenes thrown together with terrible actors who can't enunciate one word well enough for the viewer to understand. Everyone looks alike. One character wears glasses, so he sticks out, and you can follow him somewhat. Not one word uttered is comprehensible. This movie should either be dubbed or have subtitles. There's a lot of mean sounds coming from the soldiers towards each other. You won't know what they're saying. This is probably more bad directing than acting, because it occurs way too often. Since they all look alike, you have no idea who is dying, who is charging, who is doing what.

The hill had no value in itself, the allied forces only attacked it because the North Vietnamese Army forces were there. Once they withdrew to their safe havens in Laos and Cambodia where allied forces were forbidden to go there was no reason to keep troops on it. One of the criticisms of the allied high command is that their strategy was more akin to World War 2 and Korea where every piece of territory seized was a step closer to victory. In Vietnam merely occupying territory was meaningless as there were never enough forces to effectively seal the Laos/Cambodia border. &quot;If you are able, save for them a place inside of you and save one backward glance when you are leaving for the places they can no longer go. Be not ashamed to say you loved them, though you may or may not have always. Take what they have taught you with their dying and keep it with your own.
